Spark introduces VEXA City, its first license plate recognition camera designed to meet the most demanding requirements of traffic control and road safety.
VEXA City is built to support the main urban applications based on ANPR/OCR technology, including:
- Vehicle search: supporting law enforcement in locating wanted vehicles for crime prevention and prosecution.
- Motor insurance verification: real-time checking of insurance coverage for vehicles in transit.
- Roadworthiness compliance check: identifying vehicles that have not undergone mandatory periodic inspections.
- Traffic analysis: collecting and analyzing data to improve road safety and urban traffic management.
VEXA City by Spark
Two models, high precision
Available in two versions, VEXA City 3 MP and VEXA City 5 MP, the camera integrates 2 separate lenses, each optimized for a specific task.
The ANPR/OCR Global Shutter sensor at 60 fps, with a 12-40 mm lens, is dedicated to license plate reading (LPR) across 2 traffic lanes simultaneously, even at high speed, up to 250 km/h. Reading accuracy reaches 100%, certified to UNI 10772:2016 – Class A.
The Sony Ultra Night Vision context sensor provides a wide-angle view of the scene at the moment of capture, delivering full-color images even in low-light conditions, with automatic subject blurring for full privacy compliance.
Embedded video analytics
AI algorithms integrated directly onboard the camera enable automatic, real-time recognition of:
- License plate number
- Vehicle class
- Make (over 400 recognized brands, accuracy >95%)
- Model (over 9,000 models, accuracy >95%)
- Color (accuracy >95%)
- Nationality
- Direction
- Estimated speed
Additional features include ADR table reading for hazardous goods transport (Kemler/UN codes) and Fog-Fighter technology, designed to ensure reliable plate reading even in foggy conditions.
All processing is performed directly onboard the camera, with no need to stream video to external servers. Results are transmitted as structured metadata. Data security is ensured by AES256 encryption and HTTPS/FTPS protocols.
UNICA backplate: fast installation, simplified maintenance
Patented UNICA backplate
VEXA City features the UNICA backplate, Spark’s patented mounting system that makes installation fast and versatile. Compatible with poles, walls and ceilings, UNICA integrates internal memory that retains all device settings: when replacing the camera, there is no need to replace the backplate, reducing maintenance time and costs.
Built by Spark to operate in any condition
VEXA City is designed to perform in the most demanding urban and road environments. With IP68 and IK10 protection rating as standard, the device is NDAA compliant and supports PoE+ power supply. The camera can be integrated with any third-party platform.
